Vision UPS Systems : Your computing environment's life insurance |
What is a UPS?
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is a device containing a battery that allows your computer system to keep running when the primary power source is lost.
|
 |
Why use a UPS?
Your computing equipment's lifespan depends on main voltage quality .
The slightest loss or disturbance of power can lead to the loss of all the data you are working on and irreparably damages your hardware.

OFF-line UPS
In this type of supply, power is derived directly from the power line.
The device switches from the primary (main) to the secondary power source (battery)
whenever it senses a loss of power.
"Off-line" means that it is a passive device, which stays in standby when the primary power source is active
|
| Advantages |
Disadvantages |
Low cost |
- No mains voltage regulation
- Bad battery management
- Poor protection against power surge
- Non instantaneous battery-mains shift
|
Vision has chosen not to develop off-line devices as long as they do not meet
our company's reliability and effectiveness standards

 |
Line-interactive UPS
This type of device features a microprocessor that monitors voltage quality and reacts to variations.
Any sudden or sustained power surge or brownout triggers the booster (circuit and/or regulator transformer), ensuring constant power supply to your devices. |
| Advantages |
Disadvantages |
- Voltage adaptation
- Optimized battery management
- Wide-range regulation of mains voltage
- Software management
|
- Weight
- Medium protection against power surge
|
Middle-of-the-range technology for desktop and server protection.
All UPS are delivered with backup management and safe shutdown software, automatically saving data you are working on, closing all programs in memory and correctly shuting down your machine. |
 |
Online UPS
On-line UPS use permanent double-conversion to eliminate any electrical disturbance that might damage your computer."Double-conversion" means that all the power is converted from AC to DC and back to AC, and is fully regenerated.
|
| Advantages |
Disadvantages |
- Continuous regulation of voltage output
- High level of protection against power surge
- Galvanic isolation
- Static/manual bypass
- LCD display
- Expandable battery life
- Frequency regulation
- Guaranteed lifespan
